Treatment Preferences
-
Seeking options that simplify care and support consistent symptom control
-
Jovan and his family prefer a plan that reduces the need for daily medications, offering greater convenience, reduced stigma, and improved adherence.
-
Jovan was initially transitioned to a monthly LAI to improve adherence and symptom control.
-
While the LAI provided symptomatic relief, effects tapered 1 week before each subsequent injection, leading to symptom recurrence and necessitating concomitant oral medication to maintain stability.
-
Jovan was then switched to an alternative monthly LAI, resulting in more consistent symptom control and functional improvements.
Ongoing Care
-
His oral antipsychotics and other medications are being gradually reduced, with the goal of maintaining stability on the LAI alone.
-
With improved stability, Jovan now participates in daily activities, such as attending a day center. He engages more actively with family and social events, including attending gatherings and dining out without distress.
-
He can verbalize his needs and emotions more effectively, and his voices are better managed, allowing him to function more independently.
